What does the Committee do?

The official word on what the committee is meant to do, as released by RI, is:

This committee, mandated by the RI BYLAWS, shall provide guidance and advice to the Board on all aspects of the Rotaract program. It will review issues, projects and suggestions related to Rotaract. Under the direction of the President, it shall develop program content for and plan the Rotaract preconvention meeting in connection with the Salt Lake City Convention and promote attendance for this meeting.

What does that actually mean?

The main functions of the committee appear to be:

  • Review the Standard Rotaract Constitution and the Rotaract program in general and suggest changes to it to the RI Board of Directors
  • Select the winners of the Outstanding Projects
  • Set some of the program of and recommend speakers / leaders for the Rotaract Preconvention (though in previous years, RI appears to have overruled a lot of the suggestions!)

If we discover more functions of the RI Rotaract Committee over the course of the next year, we will let you know!

Hi Simone,

Its indeed a great pleasure to know that you are on RI Committee. We are certainly proud of that fact.

Just a suggestion, is it possible for you to have a Wordpress Blog or something similar.. We would want to use RSS Readers and probably even post regular links on websites.

If you think its huge task, RID 3140 can organise it for you with domain and everything free of charge and we wont need any sort of publicity for that.

Do you think its a good suggestion?
Please let me know.

Hi Puru,

I am familiar with WordPress, but decided to go with Blogger since the WordPress blogs available for free at WordPress are not customisable. I've used Blogger comfortably for a few years, and now we have a lot of things set up already here, and have advertised this URL widely, so I would be reluctant to change in light of that. Thanks for your offer anyway!

This blog does have an RSS feed for those of you who want to add it - the address is http://rirotaract.blogspot.com/atom.xml

Kind regards,
Simone
